Merry Christmas and a happy Newyear!


Dear Friends,

I wish you a very merry Christmas! And May the new year bring you all the good that it may hold.

I look forward to see you all in 2020!

In Huis ter Swinnendael there is no Christmas tree unfortunately. But I do have this little nativity scene. Mary, Joseph, baby J. And a mule and an ox. Carved out of White stone. Place in a little stone pyramid. Now how is that for a birth place?

      Ja he? De piramide is enerzijds een graf, vreemde keus voor een 'stalletje' maar daarnaast ook een symbool voor eeuwig leven en wedergeboorte. Dat past dan op zich weer wel. :-)

      Dank je wel Ilona, Het is inderdaad een heel klein dingetje. De beeldjes binnenin hebben weinig details maar meer dan de foto laat zien. Heel apart. En dat voor een euro. ;-0

    A stone pyramid is just as good for a nativity as our German tradition of placing them in alpine houses. ;O)

    As we have 2 official days of Christmas in Germany I can still say: Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    Felices fiestas , y espero también estar por los blog en el 2020. La más típico en España es un portal con paja y vigas de madera o en grutas. Un saludo:-)

    I believe that many of the stables in Judea back in those times, were indeed the interiors of caves, so most appropriate! :D

      True. And even houses were in some regions just a room or a wall in front of a small cave.
      But the choice of a pyramid is decorative yet a bit strange, a plundered pharao's tomb? :-)
